The Hunt for the First of Everything

I come from an extremely competitive family and with three generations living here at Dernwood everything is fair game…  every year we vie to be the first to see all the yearly milestones, from the first primroses and bluebell leaves,  to hearing the first cuckoo and seeing the first of those  welcome summer swallows.  I should probably keepa leader board but I do feel that this year im doing rather well, I saw the first primrose, orchid leaves and wild garlic.  There are lots of shoots coming out now of bluebells and the garlic is up and already smelling amazing – follow us on our Instagram page where I post regular photos of the changing scenery in our beautiful ancient woodland as the year progresses.
